Discovering Chiropractic Care
When I was going to college at the University of Minnesota at Morris I also worked as an E.M.T. on the local ambulance service. One morning on an ambulance call I slipped on wet grass and fell flat on my back which resulted in the loss of feeling in my hands. After the local Medical Doctor told me that there was nothing wrong with me my father suggested that I go to the Chiropractor. I was a bit skeptical and I don’t know if you would call it a miracle or not but after two visits the feeling came back to my hands.
I knew from an early age that I wanted to be some kind of doctor and since I grew up on a farm I thought I was going to become a Veterinarian. When I started to attend University of Minnesota at Morris I became involved in athletic training and really enjoyed working with helping the athletes overcome their injuries. I also worked as an E.M.T. on the local ambulance service. One morning on an ambulance call I slipped on wet grass and fell flat on my back which resulted in the loss of feeling in my hands. After the local Medical Doctor told me that there was nothing wrong with me my father suggested that I go to the Chiropractor. I was a bit skeptical at first, and I don’t know if you would call it a miracle or not, but after two visits the feeling came back to my hands. And I was almost 100% better that’s when I knew I wanted to be a Doctor of Chiropractic.
I attended the University of Minnesota at Morris for my undergraduate degree in biology and then Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, MN. I chose both of these schools to attend because they had outstanding reputations for high quality educations. They both were exceptionally challenging and were excellent in preparing me for the real world. I never could have imagined how intense Chiropractic College was until I attended, but it makes sense because in many ways the experience would be the same in a Medical School. I had many excellent professors at Northwestern that I still consult with on patient conditions and care yet today.
My Balanced Lifestyle
I am married to the love of my life Kathy and we enjoy being a part of our nieces and nephews lives and being able to be there for them and help them when ever we can. I love watching sports especially football, hockey and baseball. I am active in my church where I have lead many different ministries there. I enjoy leading the Men’s Bible study group and I feel blessed to have finished a two year Christian study course called Diakonia. I am especially happy to be an active part of the Indiana Dunes Great Banquet Community.
Like I tell my patients your health is a journey and you will have ups and downs with your health habits. I try to get in a walk each day and enjoy lifting weights when I find the time (of course I should be making the time). Of course I believe in regular chiropractic care and find that I often trade treatment with other fellow Doctors of Chiropractic. I believe that our bodies were made to heal themselves and I try to avoid taking prescribed and over the counter medications when possible but I also realize there is a time and place for them to be used and that would be my approach with my patients also.
